Rediscovering Linux 10:03 PM, 0 Comments

So, I've been running FreeBSD for years. FreeBSD is an amazing operating system. But over the past weekend, I tried Gentoo again. I had tried it just to see what the packaging system was like and I ran it a while back.

But man, what has happened over the years! Linux is so accepted! Flash plugins just for linux. Games just for linux. Binary drivers from ATI for ATI's cards. Linux is becoming very respected. I was happy to see a portage entry for America's Army -- a free game, on a free platform. Wow. Now all we need is for the microsofties at Valve and Sierra to port HalfLife and HalfLife2, and Linux will be in seventh heaven.
